It’s common for vapers to feel torn when choosing between an original vaping system and opting for a newer model. While we often assume that the newest model is going to be superior, that’s not always the case. Sometimes the “upgraded” model has replaced some of the most attractive features or has only been modified slightly but comes with a much higher price tag. If you’ve been trying to decide between the Smok Novo and Smok Novo 2, read on below.
How Are They Similar?
First things first, let’s look at how they compare. Size-wise, the new Novo is nearly identical in height, width and length. It’s still small enough to fit in the palm of your hand or in the pocket of your pants. The tank size has also stayed the same at 2ml. In fact, when looking at the Smok Novo vs. Smok Novo 2 side by side they look nearly identical. The only real indication you are holding one over the other is the design. The Smok Novo has a honeycomb/rattlesnake design and the new Smok Novo 2 boasts swirling multicoloured patterns.
How Do They Differ?
Where they differ is in battery size, power range, port placement, and airflow.
The latest Smok Novo nearly doubles the capacity from the original Smok of 450 mAh battery to a whopping 800 mAh. That’s a whole lot more vaping power to get you through the entire day without having to charge it. The output wattage on the new Smok Novo 2 ranges from 6W up to 25W, a big jump from the Smok Novo original that had a much shorter range of 10-15W. The resistance also differs slightly but not enough to have a real impact on your vaping experience.
One of the most obvious changes is the port placement. With the original, the port was located on the side, but that has been moved to the base of the Novo 2. The upgraded model also has a slightly tighter airflow draw which is a big plus for ex-smokers who want a more similar experience to smoking a cigarette.
What Was Fixed?
The Smok Novo 2 comes with an indicator light so that you can see the current battery level. This is a welcomed fix to the original. The Smok team also went ahead and redesigned the draw activation sensor that a number of vapers had complained about. The sensor is better positioned to avoid contactless suction. They also addressed any leaking and condensation issues that were found with the Smok Novo original by adding two groves around the electrode inside to lock in the condensation – a big improvement in our eyes.
What Other Cool Features Were Added?
Not only can you use the original replacement pods but the new Smok Novo 2 also comes with 3 new coil options to choose from. This includes a Mesh 1.0 Ohm pod for super dense clouds, a dual coil 1.4 Ohm MTL pod for super smooth hits, and a Quartz coil pod for intense vapour and superior flavour.
So is the new Smok 2 really worth the extra money? While most newbies won’t notice the upgrade in performance and usability, seasoned vapers will truly appreciate these small changes, additional coils and battery upgrade. At the end of the day, it’s really up to your personal preference and your budget because these are both truly exceptional vaping products offering high-quality vaping experiences.
